30 Years of Volleyball Excellence
Saint Catherine Academy has achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing their 30th consecutive Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) girls’ volleyball championship. This remarkable streak, which began in 1995, underscores the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence in athletics. In the recent championship final held on November 2, 2024, at Swift Hall in Belize City, the SCA Seahawks triumphed over the Belize High School (BHS) Rams with a 3-1 victory, clinching the sets 25-13, 25-18, 21-25, and 25-20.
The team’s success is a testament to the dedication of its players, coaches, and the entire SCA community. Notably, team captain Akili Jones, also a Central American U-19 gold medalist, delivered an outstanding performance with 27 kills and an ace in the final match.
Our program’s sustained excellence has been nurtured under the guidance of coaches like Lupita Quan and current coach Sherlene Johnson, both of whom have played pivotal roles in mentoring young athletes. This 30-year legacy not only highlights SCA’s dominance in volleyball but also serves as an inspiration for young women across Belize to pursue excellence in sports.
